Welcome to the BV Choir Blog
Welcome to the blog page of the Brandon Valley HS Choirs. This site is to inform choir members and their families of the choir events throughout the year. Links on the right side of this page can direct you to more detailed information on different topics as the year goes by.
Here are a few of the items keeping 170 singers busy at the northwest corner of the building...
FALL CONCERT...
The Lynx and Concert Choirs will perform their Fall Concert Monday, October 1 in the PAC at 7:30 pm.
CONCERT ATTIRE...
All choir members will be wearing BVHS choir robes. Under the robes, BOYS will need BLACK DRESS PANTS, BLACK DRESS SHOES, and BLACK SOCKS. GIRLS will need ALL-BLACK, CLOSED-TOE, FLAT or LOW-HEEL SHOES. Under their robes, boys AND girls will wear a T-shirt; girls will wear shorts or a skirt.

ALL-STATE CHORUS AUDITIONS...
SD All-State Chorus auditions will be held Wednesday September 19 after school in the BVHS choir room. Twenty BVHS singers (5 quartets) will be chosen to attend this year's SD All-State Chorus & Orchestra to be held October 26-27 at the Rushmore Civic Center in Rapid City. SD-ACDA Junior High (includes 9th grade) Honor Choir, and National ACDA Honor Choir...

Region 2 Large Group Contest
Brandon Valley High School will again host this year's Region 2 Large Group Choral and Band Contests this Wednesday, April 18. Bands from BV, Sioux Falls, O'Gorman, and Brookings will perform in the BV PAC, while the Choral Contest will be held at Brandon Lutheran Church.
The Choral Contest will feature about two dozen choirs performing throughout the day starting at 8 AM.
Each choir has a 20-minute window to perform for 3 adjudicators, and also receive a brief clinic from one of the judges. The three judges are choral directors from Augustana, USD, and Morningside.
Both contests are admission-free, and open to the public! Please, if you can, come and listen to the choirs sing!
Here are the BV Choir performance times:
Chamber Choir 8:20 Lynx Choir 1:00 Concert Choir 2:20
Participation in this contest is a required portion of a choir member's grade. Singers will need their concert blacks (boys- dress shoes, socks, dress pants; girls- flat or low-heel solid black closed-toe shoes), along with their assigned choir robes.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that every singer has the required clothing IN SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY.
Boys will have time to quickly change into concert pants before getting on the buses.
Lynx & Concert Choir members will be bused to and from the church.
Lynx Choir is excused from periods 6 & 7; Concert Choir from 7 & 8.
Looking ahead, the BV Choirs perform their Spring Concert Monday, May 14 at 7:30 in the PAC.

Florida update...
Although it seems this winter will never end, the BVHS Choir's trip to Florida's sun & sand is getting closer all the time.
Please take time to read through two links at the right... I have made a couple updates to the "Choir trip info" page since what you saw at the beginning of the year, and have added a "Florida itinerary" page, which includes links to our hotel and other sites.
Trip payment... Since the beginning of the year, it has been understood that each student's account should be at $700 by March 10. A printed spreadsheet of student account balances is posted in the choir room for students to see. You can email Mr. Gullickson to request account information. Please make checks payable to BVHS or BVHS Choir.
Walt Disney World passes... If you are traveling to WDW at the same time as the choir, you can purchase a 3-day Park Hopper pass from the choir, and save some money!
Buying from WDW will cost $370... buy your pass through the choir , and save $70 per pass.
Contact Mr. Gullickson by March 26 if you are interested.
In the coming weeks, there will be more information, more updates to the itinerary, and more details. There will be forms to fill out and return. Through it all, do not hesitate to contact Mr. Gullickson with any questions you may have.
